Generation of Youth For Christ - Lanae Henegar

Getting Close to God at GYC Lanae Henegar

Some 5,000 people had the blessed opportunity to attend the Generation of Youth for Christ this past Dec. 31- Jan.3.  All were blessed from it and had a great time as they went to meetings that were held by great speakers such as Mark Finely, David Asscherick, Raymond Holmes, Wes Peppers, and many more. There were a total of twenty-five speakers there and they all did a great job with each message they spoke. Sessions dealt with anything from true manifestations of the Holy Spirit, to tongues to creation/evolution. The creation/evolution was interesting because the speaker just kept proving creation with scripture, one Bible verse after another. Each session was always packed with as much information as you could stand and was so spiritually uplifting.

On top of all the sessions that people could go to then they also had booths set up in one large room and had booths from all over the place. Amazing Facts had a booth, Bass even had its own booth, Fountain View Academy was there and had a booth. Neil Nedly had a booth, 3ABN, GROW ministries, LIFE ministries, the list just kept going. Most the time at these booths people could rack up on free stuff like a water bottle from 3ABN, DVD's, CD's, books, information about mission trip organizations and much more.

Fountain View Academy was there with their choir and they did a concert on Sabbath afternoon which received good comment. There was also a second concert too of a variety of groups, duets, that had written their own songs and some sang hymns.  Everyone had a special song to perform and some were instrumental some were not. It was always a very spiritual atmosphere especially the last two nights because of the message that was delivered. All went to their knees and some were crying because the Spirit had spoken and touched their hearts. The Holy Spirit was always there in such a powerful way and He was never absent.

One of the main parts about going to GYC is that people received training in door to door evangelism and then on Friday they were sent out into the city/suburbs and they themselves went door to door.  They would go and knock on the doors and start witnessing to people and telling the about free Bible studies if they would like to start their year off on a spiritual note and get close to the Lord. Some shut the evangelists down very quick, some listened patiently and then kindly turn you down, then others did it in a very rude manner and shut the door in your face. It was a humbling experience and something unique, exciting to see someone receive a Bible study and allow people to pray with them before they went  on to the next house. It was and is a very touching experience that really put people on fire for God.
